A surge in rural crime led to a security event being held at Fairchilds Lodge Farm, Caldecott on Monday.
Oakham-based police community support officers Steve Houghton and Diana Freeman arranged the day to talk to 40 farmers about crime prevention.
Local security companies, Leicestershire Fire Service’s Arson Task Force and NFU Mutual staff gave advice on vehicle and equipment marking and tracking, building security and alarm systems and police firearms officers talked about shotgun licencing and safe storage of firearms.
Host farmer Andrew Brown, said: “Farmers use ever more expensive equipment which is targeted by well organised thieves. This event showed us how to take simple steps to prevent crime and protect our property.”
