Detectives investigating the brutal murder of Lound man Alan Wood have appealed for information to help find a man called Pawel Wrzyszcz.
Mr Wood was bound, tortured and mutilated at his home in the tiny hamlet near Bourne in October 2009.
Nearly five years on from his death, police are trying to trace a man named Pawel Wrzyszcz (pronounced Pavel Vursch) to help with the investigation.
Det Supt Stuart Morrison, leading the investigation, said: “We would very much like to trace a man by the name of Pawel Wrzyszcz, aged in his lates 20s to early 30s, who we think may have been living and working at a car wash or car washes in the Peterborough and Stamford area in the mid to late period of 2009. We have made enquiries in Poland as to his whereabouts and believe that he would have been in the area around this time and most likely living in the Northfield Road area of Peterborough.
“I would like to stress that he is not a suspect in this case and we would simply like to talk to him to see if he has any information that may help us further our enquiries.
“If anyone knows Pawel, or knew him at the time, please contact us as soon as possible. And if Pawel himself sees this appeal, we would very much like to hear from him.”
Police investigating Mr Wood’s murder know his bank cards were stolen and used in Bourne and Stamford over the following couple of days. The criminal or criminals involved, despite using such violence against Mr Wood, walked away with just a few hundred pounds. Beyond a possible financial motive, officers still do not know such a disturbing crime was committed.
Det Supt Morrison added: “We are coming up to the five year mark since Alan was murdered and our determination to catch his killer or killers has not waned. We have explored extensive avenues during the investigation and followed up on countless leads, and we are as motivated and committed as ever to finding who is responsible for his death.
“Someone out there could be holding that key piece of information that may enable us to finally bring to justice Alan’s murderer, or murderers, and allow his family the opportunity to see them in court and held accountable for what they have done.”
Anyone with information on Pawel Wrzyszcz or Mr Wood’s murder should call 01522 885385 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
