It’s time to dig out that running kit and get ready to take part in one of the Sport Relief Mile events taking place.

On Sunday, March 23, hundreds of people will take part in the popular event, which raises money to help people both home and abroad.

In this area there will be events at Stamford Rugby Club in Empingham Road Playing Fields, at Rutland Water and at Deeping Rangers Football Club in Outgang Road, Market Deeping.

At each event there will be a choice of one, three or six miles and participants don’t have to run – they just have to take part.

Stamford Striders are organising the event in Stamford, which kicks off at 11am and has a limit of 250 entrants.

Race director Nick Wells said: “This is only the second time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Stamford so let’s get
training and show the rest of the country what we can do.

“The course is all contained within Empingham Road Playing Fields so it is safe for all the family, but don’t forget to rope in your mates, boyfriend,
girlfriend and colleagues too!

“Walk or run, it’s up to you –but if you fancy seeing what you can do, Stamford Striders will have their marathon race clock showing your time, as well as pace runners.”

To enter either of the events go to sportrelief.com

The entry fee is £6 for adults and £3 for children, which covers the cost of putting on the events.
