Pupils' big nights

TEENAGERS across the area have been saying farewell to their school years in style.

Pupils from Oakham’s Vale of Catmose College, Kirkstone House School in Baston, Bourne Grammar School and Casterton Business and Enterprise College have been having a ball at their proms.

Vale of Catmose College pupil Henry Robinson turned heads when he arrived at Greetham Valley Hotel Golf and Conference Centre on board a Bobcat S70 Skidsteer Loader.

He said: “I found the prom a magical night that will stay with me forever. It was the final time that we, as a group of friends, were together.”

Year 11 youngsters from Kirkstone House School, Main Street, enjoyed the special event at the Deeping Stage in Market Deeping.

School publicity officer Jill Pybus said: “All the pupils looked stunning with the girls in their cocktail dresses and the boys in their tuxedos and suits.”

Casterton pupils cut quite the dash by arriving in classic cars, dressed in elegant dresses and tuxedos to the prom they organised at the Lady Anne’s Hotel, Stamford.

College spokesman Michala Ticehurst said the school had been impressed with the pupils’ fundraising and planning efforts to make the event a success.

She added: “It was a successful evening and the pupils really enjoyed them-selves. They had made a real effort to ensure it went well.”

About 130 youngsters from Bourne Grammar School, in South Road, were dressed to impress when they went to the marquee event, also held at the Lady Anne’s Hotel.

Head of Year 11 Tim Smith said: “The girls were dressed in ball gowns, and the boys in their dinner jackets. It went very well and everyone really enjoyed it. They had fruit punch, a buffet meal and a disco.”
