Rotary club planning race through Bourne Woods

A fun run and 10k race is being organised in Bourne Woods again this year to raise money for a host of charities in the area.

The Rotary club of Bourne is organising a 10k for 16 year olds and over and a 3k family run in Bourne Wood on Sunday, April 7.

The run has taken place in previous years, the last one was in 2011.

Rotarian Tony Anders said: “The runs were always popular and we hope to have perhaps 300 runners young and old.

“The main aim is to raise money for local charities, but also to provide an enjoyable morning for all who take part.”

The race will be run on woodland hard track, through the beautiful Bourne Wood scenery away from traffic.

There will be carefully measured distances and professional time keeping.

The event will raise funds to support educational activities the club runs including: Youth speaks, Young Musician of the Year and Young Writer and for charities the club supports.

Entry fee is £8 affiliated, £10 unattached, £4 for juniors.

Runners can enter up until 10am on the day.

The fun run starts at 10.15am and the 10k at 10.45am.
