Rutland County Councillors asked to consider job cuts as part of savings in budget
Councillors will discuss the possibility that redundancies could be needed to make the savings identified in this year’s budget.
Rutland County Council will meet on Monday to discuss the potential for job losses as a result of the £1.5m of savings outlined in the 2013/14 budget, which was approved on February 18.
Councillors have been asked to note the possibilities of job losses and to delegate authority for implementing compulsory redundancies to chief executive Helen Briggs, in consultation with council leader Coun Roger Begy (Con), deputy leader Coun Terry King (Con) and chairman of the scrutiny commission Coun Barrie Roper (Con).
Speaking before the budget was approved, Coun Begy said the savings were necessary but they would not have an effect on frontline services.
