Rutland firm gives TV’s Pudsey a boost
The LazyLawn team with the DIY SOS team
An artificial grass company has played its part in this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal and will feature on prime time TV next week.
Rutland-based LazyLawn has donated a lawn worth more than £5,000 towards the renovation of a centre for children with additional needs in Edinburgh, which will feature on DIY SOS: The Big Build.
The Yard, which helps children and young people from three to 25 years of age, is an indoor and outdoor space that this year has been celebrating 25 years of helping families from all over the country deal with the demands of daily life, giving the young people a space to develop their confidence and encouraging them to make lasting friendships.
Although The Yard receives a grant towards its costs from BBC Children in Need, the building and its outdoor space were in desperate need of a total overhaul.
When Andy Driver, the marketing director of LazyLawn, heard about the project, he immediately contacted the BBC production team to donate the artificial turf the renovators needed.
He said: “When I got to hear about the Edinburgh project, and found out they were on the look out for an artificial lawn to enhance the look of the place, I had no hesitation in offering a donation on behalf of LazyLawn.
“It was a pleasure to be involved, and great for a great cause, and now I’m looking forward to the whole country being able to see the finished product on TV next week.”
The show is set to air on BBC One at 8pm on Wednesday.
