The generosity of those who attended Mobilisation at Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore last month has resulted in donations to various charities.

The event was to commemorate the First World War so it was poignant that one of the first beneficiaries was the Royal British Legion.

Peter Lawson, chairman of Arts for Rutland which organised the event, said: “It is particularly appropriate that the Royal British Legion, who cared so much for the hundreds of thousands who returned as broken men from that awful conflict should be at the heart of our centenary commemorations in the county.”

Legion president Nigel Sudborough said: “I’m delighted that local people recognise the contribution that the British Legion makes, and continues to make to the lives of servicemen and servicewomen, and their families.”
