Schools closed because of weather
Updated, 9.50am: Heavy snow in the area has affected schools, colleges and bin collections.
Rutland has been worst affected and the county council says all motorists are urged to take extreme care when travelling this morning.
The council says its team has been working hard throughout the night to try and improve conditions, but the area has had a huge amount of snow across the county and it is continuing to fall. Conditions are worse in the west and south of the county.
Council gritters have been out all night, and will remain working (with new drivers) throughout today. Local farmers with ploughs have helped clear snow.
New College Stamford has cancelled classes but says exams will take place.
South Kesteven District Council has cancelled all its waste collections today and will not be returning for missed bins later in the week. On the next collection due, all waste left out will be collected.
Waste collectors are out clearing snow.
Bins are also not being collected in Rutland and the two tips in Rutland are closed.
Glaston Road, known locally as Gashouse Hill, in Uppingham is closed because a water leak and freezing conditions are making driving conditions dangerous.
Ashwell gatehouse, the small unmanned level crossing on Langham Lane, Ashwell, is closed because of damage to the barriers after a vehicle failed to stop at the level crossing gates. It will be closed for several days and diversions are in place.
