Christmas is a very special time for all of us, a time to spend with family and friends, reflect on a year passed and plan for the New Year ahead. The last six months as Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council has been a tremendous experience for me. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many people from all backgrounds and attended a wide range of functions and events throughout the year, which has given me a great insight in to Lincolnshire life.
I know first-hand the difficulties faced by many this year and as your local authority we have been doing all we can to provide support for our residents and businesses across Lincolnshire in the tough economic times. But there has been plenty to celebrate this year too.
We marked the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and were privileged to have the Olympic flame pass through our towns. I cannot remember an occasion before when so many people turned out to take part in an event. Community spirit in these difficult times was more prevalent than ever.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents of our great county a happy and relaxing Christmas and holiday period and a bright and prosperous New Year.
Coun Robert Palmer, Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council
