Slideshow: Councils work to clear roads

Waiting for Video...

Updated, 8.45pm: Gritters will be out through the night treating the roads in some areas.

Rutland County Council says after a day of heavy snow it is working to clear main routes.

Farmers are helping the council workforce with the snow ploughs, and the gritting lorries are travelling behind them to try and clear roads as quickly as possible.

The council hopes if there’s no more snow the roads will be good for the morning commute. It also hopes to get town centre pavements clear at the earliest opportunity.

According to the Met office, Stamford, Rutland and Bourne will see light during the early hours of Monday morning, but it will stop some time in the morning.
