Dozens of pub customers were evacuated after a fire started in an outside storage area.
Fire crews were called to Smith’s of Bourne in North Street at about 2pm yesterday (Sunday). It began in an outside area and spread to bins and a shed used for storage.
The pub was evacuated and customers gathered in the street while the fire crews went to work. The fire was put out and the pub reopened at about 4pm.
Manager Jane Taylor said: “We are still waiting for the fire investigation people to come back to us. We are not quite sure how it started.”
Mrs Taylor added: “Everyone was evacuated within a couple of minutes. The pub is back up and running now.”
The pub is open as normal but with a limited menu today.
