Son dies of same illness which killed his father

A MAN died of the same disease which killed his father seven months earlier, an inquest heard.

Rikki Dillow's body was discovered at his home, in Meadow Road, Deeping St James, on August 2, by his brother, after his mother became concerned that she was unable to contact him while she was on holiday.

A post-mortem examination, carried out at Peterborough District Hospital, found that Mr Dillow, 30, had died of heart failure, due to motor neurone disease.

The inquest, on Tuesday, heard that Mr Dillow's father, Leonard, had died of the disease in December last year, but the family were told it wasn't a hereditary condition.

Mr Dillow's mother, June, told the inquest her son thought he had the disease six weeks prior to his death, and said: "No one could have been as accident prone as that unless there was something wrong."

A verdict of natural causes was recorded.
