Staff at Openfield Agriculture donate cash to East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme
A volunteer emergency doctor from East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme has been given £250.
Dr Leon Roberts, of Colsterworth, received the cash yesterday (Monday) from the employees of Openfield Agriculture in Honey Pot Lane, Colsterworth.
Staff at the business raised the money by organising raffles, cake sales and even sending a collection box around.
The scheme, known as Emics, is made up of volunteer doctors who respond to emergency incidents.
Dr Leon Roberts, who is a senior medical officer with the Royal Army Medical Corps, accepted the donation.
He said: “It is great that local businesses are becoming more aware of, and supporting the work of Emics, and we are most grateful to all the staff and directors at Openfield Agriculture for their contribution.”
A spokesman for Openfield Agriculture said: “We have raised a lot of money over the years for Macmillan and other charities but felt we would also like to support a local cause and were really pleased to be put in contact with Dr Roberts.”
The donation will be put towards equipment for the doctors. A set of equipment, which each of the doctors carry to deal with incidents such as traffic accidents, costs £25,000, and Emics relies on donations.
