Men are letting their moustaches grow this month as part of a global campaign to raise awareness and funds for cancer charities.

Individuals and teams are taking part in Movember and growing moustaches in support of Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Staff and regulars at The Green Man in Scotgate, Stamford, have taken on the challenge and brewery Castle Rock has donated a barrel of Harvest Pale to the cause.

Manager David Terry said: “About 20 of us are taking part in all. We are doing a fundraising event at the end of the month and we will donate all sales from the Harvest Pale which is £350 already.”

People can donate to the cause at the bar.

Members of the B Quiz team at Whissendine’s Three Horseshoes Pub have changed their name to the MoBros.

Team captain Jeremy Fenby-Taylor said: “It didn’t take all of the team long to decide to join in, we like to enjoy ourselves on quiz night, our efforts are sure to be the cause of quite a few laughs from other teams.

“Not enough people are aware of testicular and prostate cancer and it is important to raise more awareness and funding for research. “

Members of Stamford band The Harrington Blues have joined the campaign.

Singer Josh Goodwin said: “We want to raise as much money as possible whilst hopefully having a bit of fun along the way.”

The band have organised a charity gig at The Periwig in Stamford on November 30.

And a team from Oakham United FC, calling themselves Moakham United, are also taking part.
