A boxing club hopes to see plenty of support as it puts on a show with a difference.

Stamford ABC will put on 15 bouts at its next show at Deepings Leisure Centre on March 8.

Boxers from Stamford will compete against those from visiting clubs and all have been training hard in preparation.

But this show will also have a community feel. The club has decided to support The Sick Children’s Trust after learning of the case of Austin Pittman.

Baby Austin was born prematurely and the charity has been helping his parents Leah Kendle and Lewis Pittman care for him. The club will hold a raffle at the upcoming show to raise money for the charity.

Club coach Catherine Green said: “The boxing club has put out a call of support to allow this raffle to have the best response possible to get as much money raised as we can.”

She added: “We are excited and determined to raise as much as we can for this great cause.”

Prizes for the raffle have already been donated by Nigel Wattam of Oakham Ales, Salvator Savino of Pizza Express in Stamford and Melanie Mossom of Waitrose in Stamford.

Anyone else who wants to donate a prize should call Catherine on 07854 729234.
