Stamford Car Show raises thousands for charity

A POPULAR annual car show raised more than £3,500 for charity.

Stamford and District Round Table held its seventh annual car show on The Meadows on Sunday and there were about 430 vehicles on display for visitors to admire.

There was also a duck race along Mill Stream and 600 ducks were sold.

Round table chairman Mark Wibberley said: "Everyone had a great time and at certain times the field was absolutely packed.

"Certainly when the duck race was on, it was frantic and there were hundreds of people cheering on their ducks.

"We had a few showers in the morning but it was beautiful sunny weather by the afternoon."

The Ferrari owners club displayed three Ferraris and there was also Corvettes, Jaguars, TVRs and about 10 trucks on display.

There was also a range of trade stands and some of the car dealers were new for this year's show.

A planned Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast was cancelled because of crosswinds.

The event raised 3,500, which will be divided among local charities. Some of the cash will go towards refurbishing a waiting room at Stamford Hospital.
