The show will go on for a pantomime cast who lost their costumes in a fire after hundreds of donations from the public.

Flames destroyed every costume belonging to the Stamford Pantomime Players during a blaze at Stamford Self Store warehouse in Great Casterton in September.

The collection had been put together over 60 years and cast members were left with nothing to wear for their Christmas pantomime, Puss In Boots.

The group appealed for dresses and costumes in the Mercury and people were quick to respond, donating a range of outfits to the cause.

Costume mistress Sue Wade said: “People have been so kind donating bridesmaid dresses and coming forward to help with the sewing.

“I have travelled up and down the country in search of pantomime costumes and with a large team of volunteers I am 90 per cent finished on preparing for Puss in Boots.”

The show takes place at Stamford Corn Exchange at 4pm on Thursday, 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, 2pm on Sunday and 2pm on Monday.
