A creative youngster is celebrating after being given a national award for his innovative design.
Stamford School pupil Tom Lane has received a National Arkwright Scholarship for Design and Technology after impressing judges with his desk lamp.
Tom, who is in Year 12, went through a rigorous selection process for the award, which started with his application in October last year, before he was chosen for an interview at Loughborough University where he had to present his creation.
The scholarship will support Tom through his A-levels with a financial award of £600 over the two years to help with the purchase of materials and books, as well as access to events.
Reflecting on his achievement, Tom said: “I am very proud to have received a scholarship and look forward to the great opportunities it will offer.”
