A SCHOOLGIRL has been featured in a national book of poetry.

Stamford High School pupil Emily Joyce, 15, has three of her poems featured in the Young Poets of the Year 2011 book, published by United Press.

Emily, of High Street, Morcott, said: “I had been looking around for competitions because I love writing poetry.”

One of the poems was a version of John McRae’s In Flanders Fields, which Emily wrote after a school battlefields trip.

She is a big fan of war poets and her favourite poem is Talking Turkey by Benjamin Zephaniah.
