Thanks for help with Santa visits

A club has thanked residents, businesses and groups for their help setting up a Santa’s sleigh route that raised more than £6,000.

The Bourne and District Lions Club gets youngsters into the festive spirit every year by sending Santa out on his sleigh to visit the streets of Bourne and the surrounding villages.

Last year, faced with an expanding population to visit and an ageing membership the club sought the help of others to organise the route.

Many stepped up to support the event and thanks to their help Santa collected more than £6,000 for local charities and causes.

Community chairman for the Lions Graham Crane thanked all those who helped.

He said: “This could not have been achieved without the support of many individuals and organisations including The Royal British Legion (club and branch), the Rotary Club of Bourne St Peter, Bourne Round Table, Bourne Ladies Circle, The Elsea Park Community Trust and especially from John Wand.”

Mr Crane also thanked all those who donated their time and money to make the route a success. The money raised has now been shared with the various clubs who helped out.

Mr Crane added: “Bourne Lions would like to thank them for their efforts and hopefully they will help us again this coming year.”
