Thieves target four Uppingham shops in one night

Police have appealed for witnesses after thieves broke into four businesses in one night.

Shops in Station Road, Uppingham, were burgled between 3.30am and 5.05am on Wednesday, August 6.

They stole cash and a blue Citroen C4.

Sergeant 1465 Mitchell Ward said: “It is believed that the perpetrators may have been using a Peugeot 207 vehicle which was found burnt out at the scene.

“Due to the proximity of the incidents the burglaries are being linked.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who has any information regarding the burglaries or to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area between 03.30am to 05.05am on August 6.”

Officers are also investigating the theft of a bottle of spirits from a shop in North Street East, Uppingham, at about 2.20pm on Monday, August 11. Crime reference LR/01050/14-6 applies.
