A dog breeder is busy preparing for Crufts after one of her top pooches made it through to the final 10 of a pedigree competition.
Angie Allan, 51, and her two-year-old Australian Shepherd dog Tiffany, will compete in the final of the Kennel Gazette Junior Warrant Competition at Crufts on March 7.
Angie, who runs Thorpe-by-Water Kennels and Cattery with her husband Neil, has raised Tiffany since she was born and is excited to see her take part in the final.
She said: “It is absolutely fabulous. I won the first junior warrant competition 13 years ago, before the final went to Crufts, so it is brilliant to now go through to Crufts with another home-bred dog.”
Angela and her husband have plenty of experience competing at Crufts and have entered dogs in the junior warrant competition for several years.
The junior warrant is an award for pedigree dogs from six to 18 months.
Entrants must have won a series of first prizes at both open and championship shows.
Achieving a junior warrant is one of the highest levels of success for pedigree dogs.
Angela added: “Tiffany is quite the star. Last year she was the top pastoral puppy and she has been top Australian Shepherd for two years running.”
Tiffany has had to fend off competition from scores of other dogs to make it through to the junior warrant final.
The competition began with 12 heats throughout the UK in August and September.
Five dogs and a reserve were selected by judges to take part in the semi-finals, which took place at the Kennel Club’s Discover Dogs event at Earls Court, London.
Crufts takes place from March 7 to 10 at the NEC in Birmingham.
