Angela Bellingham with her cat Tiger-Lily who has won the Mercury's Star Pets competition

Today we unveil the winner of our popular Star Pets competition - Tiger-Lily.

Angela Bellingham, of Main Street, Barnack, was over the moon when the Mercury contacted her to say her cat had won the competition, run in association with our sponsor Picanova.

Many Mercury readers entered their adorable pets into the competition and their photos were published in a Star Pets feature last year.

Readers were encouraged to vote for their favourites and now the votes have been counted and Tiger-Lily was the winner.

Angela has owned Tiger-Lily since he was just a few weeks old. She chose him as he was the runt of the litter.

Now eight-months-old Tiger-Lily, a short-haired British blue, has developed beautifully and is a striking cat, which is why Angela was so keen to enter him in Star Pets.

She said: “It’s made my day that Tiger-Lily has won.Everyone has lovely pets so I can’t believe it.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the lovely people who voted for Tiger-Lily.”

Angela, who is retired and has another cat called Logan, described Tiger-Lily as a “real character”, who climbs her curtains and washes himself in the kitchen sink!

She is now looking forward to receiving her prize - her favourite photo of Tiger-Lily produced as a cavas, acrylic or aluminium print, courtesy of www.picanova.co.uk.

Editor of the Mercury Eileen Green said: “We’d like to extend our congratulations to Tiger-Lily.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the pet owners for entering the competition and the readers who voted.

“It is a great pleasure for us to give readers the chance to see their pets in the Mercury, so thank you to everyone who made it possible.”
