A 17-month old toddler from Edith Weston was airlifted to hospital yesterday (Sunday).

The boy, who has a history of heart problems, was found to be unresponsive at a house in Edith Weston.

East Midlands Ambulance Service were first on the scene, along with an East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme doctor. They decided that the youngster required a rapid transfer to the nearest specialist cardiology unit.

A call was made to Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, who arrived at 10.10am.

The toddler was quickly flown to Peterborough City Hospital, where the crew arrived at 10.40am. The boy’s condition on the way to hospital was described as stable. A spokesman for the air ambulance said his current condition was unknown.
