Toploader to headline Oakham Festival

A big name band will be performing as part of this year’s Oakham Festival.

Oakham Festival and the Grainstore have worked in partnership to book Toploader, who will headline at the Funky Tent weekend on Saturday, June 29.

The band performed to more than 250 fans at the Grainstore Brewery in July last year and festival organisers hope they will attract bigger crowds during their second outing in the county.

Oakham Festival chairman Joy Everitt said everyone was looking forward to a fantastic weekend.

She said: “We can get a lot of people in the castle grounds where the Funky Tent weekend is held so we hope even more music fans will be able to enjoy Toploader than last year.

“The Grainstore really wanted to repeat it and as a festival, we really wanted to get a bigger name.

“We have had great success with some fantastic local bands in the past but it is nice for people to see a band that is internationally recognised.”

The Grainstore will be providing a bar at the festival and local bands will also be performing.

The festival this year will run over 10 days between June 20 and 30.

Toploader tickets will be released for sale on Friday, March 1. They will be available to buy at Music and More in Melton Road, Oakham; or visit www.oakhamfestival.co.uk or www.wegottickets.com
