Tournament marks the opening of sports court
A SPORTS court for football, tennis and basketball was opened in Cottesmore on Sunday.
Villagers celebrated the launch of the new 12,500 multi-surface court with a barbecue and five-a-side football tournament.
Commitee member Baz Brown said: “It was a good day and over 30 competitors took part in the five-a-side competition.
“There was a vast age range and the older boys were lenient on the younger ones to make it a good tournament.”
The fundraising work has been done by Tessa Barson and Lucy Burdall.
Mr Brown said: “Tessa and Lucy have been fantastic and have raised a lot of money for this wonderful facility.
“It has all been worth it because the kids loved it.
“The next project is to raise money for new lighting at the court.”
