Traffic misery on the A1

TRAFFIC on the A1 around Stamford has been at a standstill this morning as part of the roadworks at Carpenter's Lodge.

The A1 is down to single lanes in both directions untial Saturday.

A contraflow system will be running on the northbound carriageway from Sunday, November 23, to Saturday, December 6, with a southbound contraflow in operation from Saturday, December 7, to Saturday, December 20.

The A1 will be completely closed in both direction between the junctions with the A47 near Wansford and the A43 near Stamford from 8pm on Saturday, December 6, until 6am the next day and from 8pm on Saturday, December 20, to 6am the next morning.

The roadworks are to allow the installation of a flyover at the Carpenter's Lodge junction to replace the roundabout.
