Police are treating a large fire in open space as arson.
A fire crew was called to deal with a number of conifers and pieces of wood that had been set alight in a field off High Street, Maxey, at about 11.20pm last night (Wednesday).
When firefighters arrived a farmer was already on the scene separating the burning trees with a teleporter forklift.
The crew spent three hours putting out the flames and returned to the scene this morning to damp down the wood.
Police believe the fire was started deliberately. Witnesses should call 101.
