Tributes to nurse who died after fall

A FAMILY has paid tribute to a nurse who died after falling down the stairs at her home.

Claudine Scarth, 34, was discovered at her home in Woodston, Peterborough, on Saturday, June 13, by her boyfriend Adam Porsz, 29.

Miss Scarth was brought up in Market Deeping and was educated at Kirkstone House School in Baston, and the Robert Manning College in Bourne. She worked as a senior staff nurse on a surgical ward at Peterborough District Hospital.

Following her death, Miss Scarth's family discovered cards and gifts at her home from grateful patients thanking the nurse for her kindness.

Paying tribute to Miss Scarth her father, Michael, of South Road in Bourne, said: "I think that speaks volumes for the sort of person that my daughter was.

"Any parent is going to be biased about their own children, but I can honestly say she was an amazing young lady. She was kind, determined, generous and independent and she will be missed."

Her mother, Glyn, said Miss Scarth was caring and "went above and beyond the call of duty at work".

She said: "She would sit with patients who were dying and with relatives if they were upset after having bad news and would spend time with them.

"There is going to be a big void in our lives without her."

Miss Scarth was a keen gardener, loved travelling, reading, films, ballet and art, and was an avid collector of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia.

She also leaves brother John, 35, five-year-old nephew Jake, and two-year-old niece Charlotte.

John said: "There was only 13 months between the two of us and we grew up like twins. I thought there would always be the two of us and one of the hardest things about this is realising I will be on my own."

Miss Scarth's funeral was held at Peterborough Crematorium on Wednesday last week. Her family have asked for donations to the When You Wish Upon A Star children's charity to be sent to Bourne funeral directors RJ Scholes.
