Stamford and Oakham railway stations will be stopping points on a journey inspired by a popular BBC TV show.
Roger Hardingham, who used to live in Stamford, is operating a new business developed on the back of Michael Portillo’s Great Railway Journeys of Britain programme.
The first train is on June 14, which will start at Peterborough and call at Stamford and Oakham for the journey through Mid Wales to Aberystwyth.
The day tour will offer full dining to those in first class dining carriages.
Roger was one of the original team to start up the Nene Valley Railway at Wansford and is grandson of Mr and Mrs Hardingham who ran the toy and sports shop in Ironmonger Street for many years. He said: “The train to Aberystwyth from the area will be an exciting start to more special trains from Stamford and local stations.”
