Two air ambulances called to crash near Oakham

Three people were taken to hospital this morning following a collision between a car and a lorry on the A6003 just south of Oakham.

Two air ambulances were called to the accident at 11.20am as where firefighters and police who closed the road. Dr Leon Roberts and Dr Tim Gray, of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme, also attended the scene and helped treat the three casualties.

The male driver of the car and his female passenger were both seriously injured. Both were flown in separate air ambulances to University Hospital Coventry.

The driver of the lorry was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by ambulance, complaining of neck injuries.

The road reopened at about 2pm this afternoon.
