A man will appear at Lincoln Crown Court following a fire on New Year’s Day.

James Francis, 28, of Abbey Road, Bourne, appeared at Grantham Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday) charged with arson with intent to endanger lives.

The case was sent to Lincoln Crown Court, where Francis will appear on Friday, January 17, for a preliminary hearing. He was remanded in custody.

It follows a flat fire above a hairdressers in Abbey Road, Bourne, at 3.30am on Wednesday.

The fire caused severe damage to the bedroom and smoke damage to the top floor of the building.
