A couple who are members of the Rotary Club of Uppingham have been awarded the highest honour that can be bestowed by the global organisation Rotary International.

Phil and Joyce Marston have been given the Paul Harris Fellowship, named after the founder of the Rotary movement, for their outstanding contribution to the work of Rotary International.

The award also marks their contribution to the local community and work with other organisations such as the Royal Air Force Association.

The couple said: “We are overwhelmed to be awarded and it came as a complete surprise. We are honoured to be part of Rotary International and support the incredibly valuable work it does in helping those in need. We will continue to work with our colleagues both in Uppingham and wider afield to continue that good work.”
