Video: Lots of laughs for Red Nose Day

Waiting for Video...

Hundreds of people around the area have been going red nose crazy in aid of Comic Relief.

Schools, businesses and organisations were having lots of fun on Friday and over the weekend for the charity which raised a record-breaking total of £75m.

Little ones at Ark Nursery in Stamford built their own mini village after they were inspired by four-year-old Romika, from Kenya, who lives in a slum with no running water.

Staff and pupils at the nursery sold cakes and dressed up in red with crazy hair styles, raising more than £460 for the cause.

Manager Helen Watson said: “We’ve had lots of things going on and the children have really enjoyed it all.”

Staff at Sainsbury’s in Bourne ditched their uniforms for superhero outfits in a bid to have fun and raise funds.

And pupils at Brooke Priory School in Oakham put down their pens to wear red noses and wacky red clothes to raise money.

Many others throughout the area are doing their bit for the national charity appeal. See next week’s paper for a full round-up with pictures.

There was an annual fun run at Rutland Water on Saturday and staff at Sainsbury’s in Stamford took part in a dancing session to raise money.
