Video: Tom is ready to present Antiques Road Trip

Waiting for Video...

An antiques expert is set to have his knowledge of the industry put to the test when he presents a popular BBC TV show.

Tom Scott, a partner of family run business Swans of Oakham, is set to appear on Antiques Road Trip, a programme in which experts tour the country searching for treasures.

Tom, 33, was asked if he would like to be on the show after his business, which has a shop in Mill Street and a warehouse in Pillings Road, Oakham, featured on the programme in October last year.

After passing a testing interview process at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre in Essex, he was offered the role. Filming for the show takes place in May, and Tom was thrilled at the prospect.

He said: “The producers said they were after fresh faces and a new format, and I jumped at the chance when they asked me. I was really pleased.

“I’m so grateful for the whole experience and can’t wait to start filming. It’s going to be very exciting but also quite surreal and nerve-wracking.

“We had a great response when the business was last featured on the show and we’re hoping for the same again. It was great fun.”

During the programme, Tom will spend five days searching for bargains in shops, centres and warehouses throughout the country alongside a fellow antiques expert and co-host.

He will have £200 to spend each day, and whatever profit he makes at auction, the money can be used to purchase items the following day. The pair will be in competition to make the biggest profit at the end of the week. The programme is set to air on BBC One during a week in September.
