A team of determined volunteers have been busy cleaning up their village.

A number of litter picks have been organised by Great Casterton Parish Council and hundreds of pieces of litter have been binned.

Organiser Iain Clarke hopes people will now take their lead and bin their rubbish to keep the area tidy.

He said: “The message we want to convey is that every time we litter pick the job gets easier, as the cleaner the village looks, the less litter gets dropped.

“However, we would like to appeal to all school students to bin their rubbish or take their litter home. For example, one coke can or crisp packet dropped every school day en route to or from school could amount to 150 pieces of litter a year per student.”
