Scores of residents joined together this weekend to celebrate a new village scheme.

The Greetham Good Neighbourhood Scheme was launched at Greetham Community Centre on Sunday and more than 100 people turned out to mark the occasion.

The scheme is a new initiative in which volunteers around the village will be on-call to help and support vulnerable and elderly residents in Greetham with a range of everyday jobs, such as taking them to hospital appointments and picking up doctors’ prescriptions. It has been encouraged and funded by Rutland Community Spirit.

The launch on Sunday also included tea and cakes, and a raffle which raised £55 for the scheme.

Scheme treasurer Sue Bamber said: “The idea has gone down very well and everyone enjoyed the launch.”
