Vital training for mums

MUMS got a hands-on lesson in resuscitating babies at an event yesterday. (Monday)

Nurse Anita Human and her husband, ambulance technician Roy, who are directors of Human Touch Training of Bourne, taught the session at Wittering Parish Hall.

Anita said: "I think it is important that all young mums have this sort of training.

"They are discharged from hospital when this is a very difficult subject to approach so mums are not shown how to resuscitate babies when about 300 a year die unexpectedly.

"Sometimes babies just forget to breathe and it is the mum that finds them. We give them the skills to breathe for them and we also teach how to deal with choking."

"The visit by Anita and Roy to the Wittering Weigh and Stay group was organised by health visitor Carrie Jones and about 35 mums and their children were at the session.
