A ploughman from Oakham has won a highly coveted award.

Adrian Marshall has been crowned the 2012 winner of the Conrad Underwood Trophy for Ploughing.

The trophy was presented to Adrian at the Newark Vintage Tractor and Heritage Show by Conrad Underwood’s widow, Doris, and their son Philip.

This year the trophy was contested in the horticultural tractor class and Adrian claimed victory when he won ploughing matches at Collingham and Southwell, both in Nottinghamshire.

Adrian, who is a bricklayer by trade, is donating his prize money to Help A Nottinghamshire Child, a charity which aims to keep children away from crime.
