Woman ran into husband in 4x4
A MOTHER of two admitted a dangerous driving charge today after running into her husband in her 4x4 following an argument.
Simon Ellis suffered a broken pelvis and a fractured elbow when he was crushed between his own car and his wife Jacqueline's Mitsubishi Shogun.
Ellis pleaded guilty to driving dangerously in Main Street, Cottesmore, on October 19 last year when she appeared in court on Tuesday.
Leicester Crown Court heard how the incident happened when the 44-year-old was "angry" with her husband, 45, after the pair had rowed.
She collided with him after pulling out into the road and having to steer suddenly to the nearside to avoid a collision with another vehicle.
Ellis, whose husband was in hospital for six weeks after the incident, accepted her driving was to blame but denied deliberately running into him.
She was originally also charged with causing grievous bodily harm, but the offence, which she denied, was dropped by the prosecution.
Adjourning sentence to allow reports to be prepared, Judge Simon Hammond said he was considering imposing a suspended prison term.
Ellis, of Long Meadow Way, Cottesmore, who has two young sons, was granted bail until she is sentenced on December 19.
