A 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital yesterday (Tuesday) after falling from her horse in a field in Oakham.
The woman fractured and dislocated her ankle in the fall. Due to the remote location, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was called just before 12.50pm.
The crew arrived within 20 minutes and the woman was sedated and given pain relief. Her ankle was also manipulated to reduce the dislocation.
She was then taken by land ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment. A doctor from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance travelled with the woman to monitor her condition.
