Young chef is a TV hit
A BUDDING chef has appeared on popular children's television programme Blue Peter after winning a cookery competition.
Robbie Main, of Southfields, Bourne, appeared on television screens across the country on Tuesday.
Viewers saw him in a cook-off against presenter Andy Akinwolere, which was judged by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott.
Robbie and Andy were given four ingredients and asked to bring along an ingredient to create a dish.
The four ingredients provided were potatoes, carrots, chicken and goat’s cheese, and Robbie took along leeks to create a dish of pan-fried chicken with leeks and tarragon, goat’s cheese fritter and potato and carrot cake.
He won the competition, and was given a trophy, as well as the coveted Blue Peter badge.
Robbie, who attends the Robert Manning College, Bourne, said: “Ainsley Harriott said he thought I was very creative and had used all the ingredients really well.
“It was really fun and I enjoyed it.”
Robbie, who turned 13 on Monday, met Peterborough band JLS and Little Britain star Matt Lucas while he was at the studios in London.
Robbie said: “They were all really nice and were congratulating me on winning the cook-off.”
The talented teenager, who hopes to be a chef when he’s older, won a national children’s cookery competition CookIt!
