Youngsters learned the sport of fly fishing at an open day.
About 70 children and teenagers took part in this year’s Rutland Youth Fly Fishing Day at Rutland Water.
The aim of the day is to introduce young people to the sport and get them out on the water fishing.
Organisers know there is only so much teaching that can happen in the classroom and by drawing on the help, skills and resources of volunteer anglers, they can do something meaningful and valuable for those that take part.
Jeremy Ball, who helped organise the day, said: “I have never seen so many happy faces around the harbour.
“We have caught them young, and given them a sport, a pastime they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.”
