DOUBLE Olympic gold champion Sebastian Coe cut the ribbon at the opening of a new multi-million pound sports centre.

Lord Coe, who is also chairman of the organising committee for the London 2012 Olympics, was at Uppingham School on Saturday to offically open the centre.

The centre has a sports hall, swimming pool, fitness suite, gym, squash courts, dance studios. It is has been built alongside new tennis and netball courts and improved rugby pitch and athletics facilities.

This centre provides improved sports provision for the pupils at the school.

Marketing communications administrator Su Statham said: “The opening went very well.”
