A CHARITY shop has thanked a volunteer for her help promoting Gift Aid.

Staff at Age UK, in High Street, Oakham, presented volunteer Lorna Grey, 60, of Glebe Way, Oakham, with a certificate on Tuesday for all of her help raising money through Gift Aid.

Using Gift Aid on a donation allows UK taxpayers to give an extra 25p for every £1 sold.

Lorna, a retired teacher, said: “The use of Gift Aid gives a lot to the charity. I get over 10 people a month to use Gift Aid on their donations and this year we raised £6,409 just in this shop.

“I would like to give special thanks to Alison Darling who is a superb manager and is always encouraging volunteers.”

Head of affinity at Age UK Helena King said the money raised through Gift Aid went towards providing a better life for the elderly and providing medical services.
