A LUNCH club raised £1,700 during its latest meeting.

Burghley Park and Peterborough Ladies meet each month at The Orangery at Burghley House to enjoy lunch and a guest speaker.

Proceeds from their meetings and raffles go towards cancer research trials at Peterborough City Hospital.

This week the club raised £1,700 thanks to caterers at The orangery providing their meal for free and Barclay’s bank matching their fundraising pound for pound.

Club chairman Annette Beeton said: “We like the money we raise to be spent locally and this year in particular we have chosen to support breast, bowel and prostate trials.”

The group has raised £7000,000 for charity since it was launched.
