Lyddington set for flypast at village fete

Have your say

Villagers are set to gather to start the summer fete season in style.

Lyddington’s village fete will take place on Saturday next week and will be opened by the new High Sheriff of Rutland Air Commodore Miles Williamson-Noble at 2pm.

The main attraction on the day will be a flypast at 2.55pm from the iconic Second World War Dakota aeroplane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The fete will be held in the green in the centre of the village, which will host a range of fun and games for the whole family.

Homemade cakes and jams will be on sale, as well as flowers and vegetables. Visitors can also take part in a tombola, raffle and browse a number of stalls selling books and bric-a-brac. The much loved dog show will also attract large crowds.

Funds raised will go towards the village church and other local projects.
