A MAN has died following a fire at sheltered accommodation in Ketton.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in the village at 8.30am this morning (Tuesday) after a neighbour reported smoke coming from the ground floor flat.
Firefighters broke into the property and found the man in the front room of his home where the fire was located.
Police have confirmed the man died at the scene.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are still trying to establish the cause of the fire.
The flat was owned by housing association Spire Homes.
Director of housing Katy Sagoe said: “At the moment there is an investigation being undertaken into the causes of the fire by the police and fire services, we are assisting with this where we can, but we currently have very little information.
“Our main concern at this time is for the family, friends and neighbours of the person involved and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.”
