A CARAVAN enthusiast from Bourne has won a brand new car after entering a national competition.
Martyn Townsend, 46, has bagged himself a brand new Nissan X-Trail 4x4 worth more than £25,000 after entering a Caravan Club competition.
Martyn won the star prize after entering an online competition to promote the Caravan Club’s new community forum, Club Together.
Martyn was the picked at random from more than 60,000 competition entrants.
Martyn said: “I found out when I was on holiday and I couldn’t believe it.
“I was absolutely delighted when I was told, it was a nice holiday present.
“I am not the type of person who normally wins competitions so it came as a very pleasant shock.”
Martyn collected his brand new X-Trail with his family, from Paul Charman, the general manager at Smiths Nissan in Bretton, on July 28.
Martyn said: “I’d done a lot of research into the Nissan X-Trail already and knew it to be a great vehicle.
“My wife, children and I now can’t wait to put it to the test on our next trip to Cornwall.”
Despite the hefty price tag Martyn has no plans to sell his new car, he said: “It has that new car smell. The plan is just to enjoy it.”
Smiths Nissan general manager Paul Charman said: “We’re thrilled to hand over the keys to Martyn and wish him and his family many a happy caravanning holiday. We’re confident it won’t disappoint.”
In a campaign to raise awareness of safe towing, the dealership on Sturrock Way is inviting anyone planning a caravanning holiday this year to call into the dealership and collect a free guide to towing.
Smiths in Peterborough is also offering all customers purchasing a Nissan X-Trail or Pathfinder from now until the end of September a free towing course.
